Livingston County Sheriff Martin Meredith is being investigated for allegedly using a county-owned GPS unit to track an ex-girlfriend, according to a published report. WMBD TV reports that the GPS unit, which is normally used by the county's proactive police team, went missing a few months ago but later turned up in Meredith's ex-girlfriend's trunk. An outside agency is overseeing the investigation so there's no conflict of interest. Meredith tells the television station he welcomes the investigation and is confident it will prove there was no misconduct.
