Village officials in Hillcrest will meet in special session this evening at 7 as the discussion will center around the sanitary sewer project for the community.
There are 2 different proposals that the board is looking at. 1 involves a CDAP grant for 27 homes in a 3 block area. The proposal includes the 300 and 400 blocks of Scott Avenue, the 200 and 300 blocks of Jeffrey Avenue, and Hillcrest Avenue in the 300 and 400 blocks. Estimated cost is $500,000.
The other work will be located near River, Wayne, Errett and Power Roads along with Roy and Linda Avenues. This includes 63 homes along with the business area at a cost of 2.5 million dollars.
Village officials hope to receive state grant money for the project. They also plan to take out a loan from the Illinois EPA.
Home owners and businesses will also pay for the project. The cost would range between 15 to 70 dollars per month. The hook-up for each home would be $700 to RMU as the system would be hooked into the treatment plant in Rochelle.
Residents in Hillcrest are encouraged to ask questions about the project tonight.
