Rochelle police continue to investigate a semi-tanker accident that took place Friday afternoon.
Reports indicate that a truck driver from Minooka was traveling southbound on Illinois 251 and was turning left onto the east bound ramp for I-88. The driver lost control of the tanker as it rolled on it's side. It was filled with 6,000 gallons of diesel fuel.
It took fire department personnel about 45 minutes to extricate the driver from the cab area before he was flown from the scene by emergency helicopter to a Rockford hospital with head and internal injuries.
The eastbound ramp for I-88 was closed for around 4 hours.
Tickets may be issued by local police from the accident.
