Park officials in Rochelle heard a presentation last night dealing with the possibility of a YMCA coming to the community.
A group of local residents recently had a survey done involving a YMCA or a community center being built in Rochelle. The study involved 400 phone calls in which 79 percent of area residents thought the idea was excellent or good. 85% of families with children were in favor of the projec
Membership would be between 500 to 750 which is a conservative figure. The group plans to continue to work with officials from the YMCA in DeKalb.
The monthly cost for a person would be around $25. For a family, 50 dollars per month.
How the facility would be finance in the construction costs has yet to be determined. Possible locations include off Flagg Road near RTHS and Lincoln School.
