Governor Quinn has signed a bill that increases the protection of domestic abuse survivors. House Bill 3744, also known as Diane's Law, is sponsored by state Representative Barbara Wheeler and state Senator Pamela Althoff. The legislation allows the court to order domestic violence offenders to undergo risk assessment evaluation. The court also will be permitted to require GPS monitoring of the defendant to help keep track of them and enforce restraining orders. The law goes into effect the beginning of 2015.
