Rochelle park board meeting

Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District Executive Director Eric Christensen

Progress is being made on the upgrades at Powers Park in Hillcrest.

Park officials in Rochelle tonight approved a bill of just over 88 hundred dollars for a portion of the work. Executive Director Eric Christensen said that several projects have been completed at Powers Park. They include the west parking lot and a gravel walking path. A new playground should be completed by the end of the month.

Christensen said that a small shelter may also be built at the park next year.

Revenue this year at the Spring Lake swimming pool totaled around $66,800. That's about 21 hundred dollars more than a year ago.

Expenditures were around $92,000 as the total loss will be just over $25,000 with a few bills still needing to be paid. Last year's loss was $37,000 or $12,000 more than this past summer.

The park district plans to have an ice rink at Tilton Park this winter for skating. There will also be a temporary fence around the rink when not in use.

2 Eagle Scouts also gave a presentation on their projects at the disc golf course at Skare Park and the fish cribs at Lake Sule.

Park officials met for an hour to talk about personnel. No action was taken.
