The state's unemployment rate fell in August, the sixth straight monthly decrease and the largest annual decline since 1984. The rate of six-point-seven-percent is the lowest it's been since July of 2008, and represents a sharp drop from a year ago when it stood at nine-point-two-percent. The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the leisure and hospitality sector generated the most new jobs last month, with five-thousand, while 43-hundred jobs were added in the trade, transportation and utilities area.
