Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has announced that 35 small communities will share 13.7 million dollars in grants for public works improvements affecting the health and safety of low-income residents.
The list includes the Village of Hillcrest who will receive $450,000 in the C-DAP grant for their sanitary sewer project.
The village has also applied for an Illinois EPA loan of 2.5 million dollars as the project involves 63 homes along with the business area.
The state money for the village comes from the 26.5 million dollars in the federal allocation to Illinois this year under the C-DAP grant program.
Hillcrest is expected to receive information about the EPA loan early next year.
