Rochelle police arrested a 16-year old boy from Rochelle early this morning following a short vehicle chase which resulted in a car hitting a tree in the downtown area.
The incident began a short time after midnight when police attempted to stop the car driven by the teen at 1st Avenue and Washington Street.
The youth would not stop for police and eventually crashed the car into a tree near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and North 6th Street.
The teen then got out of the car and started to run before he was taken into custody in a nearby alley by police.
The 16-year old was arrested on the charge of DUI, fleeing to elude police, speeding, and disobeying a stop sign. He was released on an individual bond and given a court date of December 10th in Oregon.
There was extensive front end damage done to the vehicle the boy was driving. He was not hurt in the accident.
