Area police agencies along with fire department ambulances were kept busy yesterday afternoon and evening as roadways became slick due to freezing drizzle.
There are no reports of any serious injuries from the accidents.
Ogle County Sheriff's Police ticketed a Rochelle teen following a 2-vehicle crash yesterday afternoon on Route 38 in Creston.
19-year old Esdras Castillo skidded in the eastbound lane of Route 38 and struck a vehicle driven by 18-year old Isaiah Ramos of Rochelle.
Ramos and a passenger in the car were taken by ambulance to Rochelle Community Hospital with minor injuries. Castillo, who was not hurt, received a ticket for traveling too fast for conditions.
DeKalb County Sheriff's Police report that they responded to around 50 motorist assists and accidents between 3:30 and 7:30 yesteday due to the slick road conditions.
There were 16 people with non-life threatening injuries and 19 property damage accidents. 14 drivers ended up in the ditch which included 8 rollover crashes.
Snow plows have been working since last night salting the area roads.
