City officials in Rochelle are looking at future projects at the Municipal Airport that will bring additional planes to the Hub City.
Last year, the runway was extended to just over 5,000 feet along with work on the taxiway at Koritz Field. During yesterday's Rochelle Airport Advisory Board meeting, Gredco Director Jason Anderson talked about other projects in the future. They include additional work on the taxiways along with widening and additional pavement for the runway so they can handle bigger planes.
Anderson said that the state is interested in the number of planes and the types of aircrafts that use the facility.
The board is also concerned about the primary function remaining the same at the airport. It's first use is for aviation and then other community events.
The city also has no rental space at this time in the hangars.
