Fire did extensive damage Saturday night at a truck center on the south side of Rochelle.
The blaze took place at Rochelle Truck Center Incorporated at 1631 South Main Street a short time after 5.
Rochelle Fire Lieutenant Dan Miller was 1 of the first emergency personnel on the scene. He said that the office was fully engulfed in flames
The fire was contained in the office area on the south side of the building. There was extensive smoke and heat damage throuhgout the facility along with some cars parked outside.
Miller talked about some of the problems firemen were faced with Saturday night. He said there were no hydrants near the building along with the heat in the metal building. There were also some vehicles inside the structure along with tools and machines to work around.
There were a few employees at the truck center when the fire started. There were no injuries.
Rochelle Truck Center is in the business of repairing trucks.
Cost damage to the building and contents is expected to be in the 6 figure range. Rochelle Fire Chief Brian Johnson said that it will take a few days to determine the exact cause of the flames. It may have started near some appliances in the office area.
The Ogle-Lee Fire Protection District responded to the scene along with several other area departments. Smoke was coming from the building for several hours.
Rochelle firemen returned to the scene a couple of times early Sunday morning for small fires inside and outside the facility.
