DeKalb County Sheriff's Police are releasing more information in the death of a Kingston man early yesterday morning following a single vehicle crash.
25-year old Jeffrey Nissen was pronounced dead at a Rockford Hospital.
Sheriff's police say that a short time before 1am, they learned that Nissen was attempting to leave a residence in the 11,000 block of Baseline Road in a car that did not belong to him. He had been drinking alcohol and also had a revoked driver's license. Nissen had also been involved in an alleged domestic altercation.
When sheriff's police got close to the home in rural Kirkland, they observed the car that Nissen took traveling west bound on Baseline Road. A high speed chase began until Nissen drove off the pavement at Baseline and Malta Roads into the north ditch. The car then struck a utility pole and rollover over several times.
Nissen was ejected from the car at some point during the accident.
He was pronounced dead a short time later at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.
