A Peoria man pled not guilty in Ogle County court Wednesday following a high speed chase that took place earlier this month with area police agencies.
A grand jury has indicted 40-year old Daniel Swisher on 4 counts of the felony offense of aggravated fleeing to elude police, 2 counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer, also a felony, and the misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of cannabis.
The incident began on May 6th when Ogle County sheriff's police checked the welfare of Swisher who was parked at the Castle Rock State Park near Oregon. The chase began there as Swisher drove his 2015 Porsche through Oregon onto Route 64 towards Kings.
Swisher drove through a nearby field near Kings before he headed back towards Oregon westbound on Route 64. He was finally stopped on the Rock River bridge in Oregon and taken into custody.
Sheriff's police say that Swisher's vehicle made contact with several marked squad cars from the department during the high speed chase. He also drove into oncoming traffic. He was transported to KSB Hospital in Dixon following the incident before being released to Ogle County officials.
There were no reports of any serious injuries from the incident.
Swisher remains in jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to Ogle County court on June 4th for a status hearing.
