1 of the Mad Bomber technicians suffered minor burns and a lower leg injury the night of July 4th at the Kirkland Lions Club fireworks show.
The incident took place when 1 of the cylinders used to expel a mortar failed and blew apart the racking system that hold the cylinders.
The injured technician was transported by ambulance to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford for treatment of his injuries.
The fireworks show in Kirkland was suspended for about 25 minutes so that the pyro technicians could complete a thorough safety check. The show resumed with no other incidents.
