Thirty-thousand Volkswagen and Audi diesel engine car-owners in Illinois are in line for part of the settlement over the company's admitted faking of emissions tests. Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office says the settlement includes a hundred-50-million-dollars in restitution for Illinois consumers, 30-million-dollars in fines for violating state consumer fraud laws, and possibly 97-million for environmental damage.
Vehicle owners will get at least 51-hundred-dollars and a choice between a vehicle buy-back and a modification to the emissions system.
