The Ogle County board held a budget and appropriation hearing yesterday evening dealing with the new fiscal year which begins December first.
The county is currently looking at a balance budget in the general fund as the revenue and expenditures come in at 14.2 million dollars. Finance and Insurance Committee Chairman Greg Sparrow of Rochelle they do have a balanced budget.
Figures show that the revenue will have an estimated increase of $80,500. The expenditures will also rise by just over $89,500.
Each department head was asked to cut 2 percent from their budget compared to numbers a year ago.
The appropriation will be lower for the fiscal year by around 2.5 million dollars. It totals 34.7 million dollars. The county is currently facing no debt.
Sparrow said that they are looking at reducing the staff over the next few years when several employees retire.
The Ogle County board plans to approved the fiscal year 2017 budget and appropriation during their meeting on November 15th in Oregon.
