Teen returns to court in Rochelle armed robbery case

A new public defender has been appointed for a 15-year old boy from Kings in connection with an armed robbery that took place this past summer in Rochelle.

The teen has been charged with the Class "X" felony.

A local woman informed Rochelle police on August 21st that she had been robbed at gunpoint by 2 male juveniles. The hold-up occurred at a local hotel and apartment complex on North Main Street. No one suffered any injuries.

The 2 male juveniles apparently stole money from the victim's purse.

The teen was given a new public defender when a mistrial
was declared by an Ogle County judge on November 7th after 4 jurors had been chosen. The second public defender for the boy developed a conflict after the trial.

The teen returns to court on December 20th for a status hearing. He remains in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice in Kane County.

A 17-year old Rochelle boy was also arrested on the charge of armed robbery from the incident. He pled guilty in September was sentenced to probation until he is 21 years old.
