The Ogle County board has approved a resolution to put together informational material regarding the jail project that would be mailed to area residents. Total cost will not exceed $10,000.
Plans for the estimated 27 million dollar jail is to be located west of the Judicial Center in Oregon along 6th Street. It will be able to handle 180 to 200 prisoners.
The project also includes the closure of 6th Street in Oregon with a sally port to connect the Judicial center and the new jail.
Public meetings will take place in the future for area residents to ask questions about the new jail.
The board also approved resolutions dealing with asbestos abatement work for the emergency operations center in Rochelle and the fiber contract with L.R. Communications.
The emergency center in the Hub City also needs roof repairs and the purchase of a generator.
Appointments last night included Mark Hayes as an alternate to the Zoning Board of Appeals and Sandra Simms to the Leaf River Fire Protection District board.
