Ogle County officials received an update report last night on the enterprise zone.
The State Enterpise Zone board approved a proposal last year from Ogle and Lee Counties.
Enterprise zones are a tool for economic development that could bring new businesses in the area. It can also be used to expand current companies in the future.
The new enterprise zone is for 15 years involving both counties.
Taxing bodies from both counties had to approve the proposal before it was sent to the State board.
Roofing material and services proposal was approved for the emergency operations center in downtown Rochelle.
Appointments last night included Kathleen Wilson of Oregon to the Mental Health 708 board and Nellene Jeter to the Byron Museum District board.
