Jackeline Aguilera of Rochelle has announced that she is no longer a candidate for city council in the Consolidated Election on April 4th.
In a prepared statement, Aguilera said she would not be able to accept the seat for City Council, if elected, due to an unforeseeable family emergency.
She would like to thank all of the people that supported and encouraged her to participate in our local democracy. She hopes to have the opportunity to run in the future.
She also wants everyone to go out and vote next month. She said together we can build a stronger and more inclusive democracy. God Bless.
Aguilera's name will appear on the ballot next month. She would like local residents not to vote for her and choose 1 of the other 5 candidates in the Consolidated Election.
Rochelle has 3 council members whose 4 year terms come to an end next month. Dan McDermott has decided to run for another term in office. Dave Eckhardt and Kathy Hollenbeck have decided to not run for another term.
The other names on the ballot include John Bearrows, John Grubben, Kathryn Shaw-Dickey, and Jeffrey Phillips.
