Lee County will still send women to jail, just not theirs. Sheriff John Simonton yesterday said he's going to have to send eight female prisoners to other counties.
State law requires that men and women in jail cannot see or hear each other. The sheriff says his jail is too small, and too overcrowded to meet that requirement.
