A former area school official will lead Hiawatha School District 426 next school year while a permanent superintendent is sought.
The board announced Monday that they intend to hire 64-year old Bill Mattingly who served as interim superintendent the first semester of the 2015-16 school year. Mattingley is expected to sign a contract in the next few days.
Mattingley is the former superintendent in the Oregon and Kings school districts. He can not work more than 100 days for the district since he is retired.
