Study shows Illinois pensions in the deep red

A new state-by-state study of public employee pensions is showing just how bad the situation in Illinois is.

The report finds that Illinois had 112-billion-dollars in unfunded pension liability as of 2015, about 40-percent of what it should have.

The makes Illinois the third worst state for pension shortfalls, behind only Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Nationwide, pension gaps jumped 17-percent between 2014 and 2015 to a total of one-point-one-trillion-dollars.
