Open house held for 2 city officials in Rochelle

(Kathy Hollonbeck, Mayor Chet Olson, and Dave Eckhardt)

A farewell open house was held yesterday for 2 Rochelle city officials as their term on the council comes to an end on April 30th.

Dave Eckhardt and Kathy Hollonbeck decided not to run for a 4th term in office during the Consolidated Election earlier this month. They were on the council for 12 years.

Eckhardt said he was a little surprised he was on the council for 12 years, but he believes in term limits. He was also disappointed that a new recreation center was not built in the city while he was on the council.

Eckhardt said the biggest challenge for the new council will be increasing the population in the future.

Hollonbeck said she had a great 12 years representing the people of Rochelle. She said that the council worked together on many issues and expects good things from the new city officials.

Hollonbeck said the biggest project for the new council is the hiring of a new city manager.

Eckhardt and Hollonbeck received plaques from the city for their time on the council.

A ceremony will be held next Monday morning at 10 for the winners of the Consolidated Election involving the Rochelle City Council. It will take place at City Hall.
