Departments from Rochelle and Steward responded to a fire early this morning at the Illinois River Energy ethanol plant on the south side of the Hub City. The call came in a short time after 4AM.
The facility is located on the 19 hundred block of Steward Road.
A spokesman for the Rochelle Fire Department said that the flames were contained in a heat exchanger at the plant. The fan had apparently stopped working and the equipment over heated. The heat exchanger was enclosed in a piping system at the plant.
There were no reports of any injuries. Cost damage is estimated to be around $500.
Fire departments were on the scene for about an hour.
