A Stillman Valley man pled not guilty in Ogle County court yesterday in connection with an altercation that took place on April 20th.
29-year old Jacob Gomez has been arrested on the Class 2 felony offense of aggravated domestic battery and the Class 4 felony of domestic battery and unlawful restraint.
Gomez was also wanted on a Lee County warrant for contempt of court.
The arrest came about after Ogle County Sheriff's Police investigated a domestic battery incident at the Marathon gas station in Stillman Valley. The female victim did receive treatment at a Rockford hospital for non-life threatening injuries. She was alledgedly strangled during the confrontation.
Gomez appeared in Ogle County court for an arraignment as he requested a jury trial in the case.
He asked for his bond to be reduced which was denied by the judge. It remains at $200,000.
The judge also appointed a public defender for Gomez as he is scheduled to return to court on May 10th for a preliminary hearing.
The Stillman Valley man remains in jail in lieu of bond.
