The Joliet Township home where a 16-month-old girl was found dead this week was on the radar of both state child welfare investigators and the Will County Sheriff's police. There have been no charges filed in the death of Semaj Crosby, but the DCFS says there was a home visit on Tuesday, just hours before the girl was reported missing.
The agency had investigated the family at least twice before. On Easter Sunday, an anonymous 9-1-1 call brought sheriff's deputies to the house, where they found no problem. Officers did return to the house later with candy and toys to make Easter baskets for the children. A photo taken of the family with the officers includes Semaj.
