Teen pleads not guilty in Hillcrest shooting and home invasion

A Dalton teen has pled not guilty in Ogle County court following a shooting and a home invasion incident that took place last January in Hillcrest.

19-year old Casimir Williams, formerly of Rockford, has been arrested on 2 counts of the felony offense of home invasion and armed robbery and 1 count of aggravated battery.

The altercation occurred the night of January 24th in the 200 block of Jeffrey Avenue in Hillcrest. During the confrontation, the home owner was shot in the stomach area by a handgun. The victim received treatment for his wound at a Rockford hospital.

Ogle County Sheriff's Police have also arrested 2 Rockford men in connection with the incident. 23-year old Eddie Blaylock and 22-year old Rayvon Motton remain in jail in lieu of bond.

Authorities say the motive behind the shooting was the theft of cannabis.

In court yesterday, Williams demanded a jury trial and his bond was reduced from $500,000 to $250,000.

He remains in jail in lieu of bond with a court date of May 26th for a pre-trial conference in Oregon.
