Rochelle police investigate 2 vehicle crashes early this morning

Rochelle police investigated 2 vehicle crashes this morning in which a car ended up in Kyte Creek and another snapped a telephone pole.

The first crash took place at around 3AM as a driver of a 2002 Ford failed to negotiate the curve on Washington Street near Fairways Golf Course. The vehicle jumped the curb and ended upside down in the creek.

Emergency personnel were on the scene for over an hour checking the creek and surrounding area for the driver and possible passengers. No one was found.

Police have the name of the owner of the car.

The second accident took place a short time after 4AM. A 15-year old girl from Rochelle was traveling on Main Street at Avenue "G" when the car left the pavement and struck a telephone pole.

The teen was transported by ambulance to Rochelle Community Hospital with some pain in her neck and a cut to her knee. The injuries are non-life threatening.

Tickets are expected by Rochelle police following the crash.
