The shell of the old Hanley Furniture Building in Rockford is still smoldering, but its owner wants to see it rise again. Owner Justin Fern yesterday said he hopes to work with city leaders to rebuild the historic building in downtown Rockford.
A Sunday fire gutted the building, and crews demolished an unstable fifth floor on Sunday.
They wanted to demolish the rest yesterday, but were told to wait for a structural study.
