City officials in Oregon will meet this evening at 5:30 at the Coliseum as the discussion will include the closing of South 6th Street between Washington and Jefferson Streets for the new Ogle County jail.
The county wants to build the new jail west of the Judicial center along 6th Street in Oregon. They need this portion of the street closed for a sally port that would connect the jail to the Judicial Center.
The Oregon Planning Commision has recommended to close the street for this project.
Whatever the vote is this evening from the Oregon city council, the county plans to build the new jail at this site in Oregon. They may have to change the design if city officials keep 6th street open in this area.
This evening's Oregon city council meeting is open to the public at the Coliseum.
