Illinois schools looking at 90 percent passing number by 2032

Illinois school leaders want most students in the state to be able to read and do math at grade level in the next 15 years. The Illinois State Board of Education yesterday unveiled a plan to have 90-percent of students pass the state's standardized math and reading tests by 2032.

That's a tall order. Right now less than 40-percent of kids in Illinois schools can pass the tests.
