Fire destroyed a repair shop yesterday evening at a family owned grain facility in rural Steward.
The fire was noticed at around 7 just north of the intersection of Perry and Steward Roads.
Rochelle Fire Chief Dave Sawlsville said that the metal structure was totally engulfed in flames when crews arrived on the scene.
Sawlsville said there was some heat damage done to the 5 grain bins at the location. Cost damage is estimated to be around $300,000 as there was a semi-truck, a pick-up truck, along with tools and equipment in the repair shop.
The cause of the flames remains unknown at this time. Sawlsville said that the fire had been burning for a period of time before the blaze was noticed.
Fire departments from Rochelle, the Ogle-Lee Fire Protection District, along with Compton, Shabbona, Paw Paw, and West Brooklin were called to the scene to put water on the flames.
No one suffered any injuries as firemen were on the scene for over 2 hours.
