Southern Illinois University leaders say they have too many old dorm rooms, but not enough students to build new ones. Trustees for the Carbondale campus last week said they're going to have to cancel a planned new housing project because it would lose money.
SIU Trustee J. Phil Gilbert says students are looking for interesting dorms or apartments, and SIU Carbondale isn't giving that to them.
