A report of an armed person in Sterling this morning prompted a precautionary lockdown at Sterling Schools, the Hospital and at Wahl Clipper Corporation. The lockdown last just over an hour and started around 9:45 this morning. The incident was reported to be at a vacant house at 1507 5th Street in Sterling. A cleaning person discovered four men in the home this morning and notified police. One of the men was said to be armed. Officers responded to the scene and did not get a response from anyone inside and the Whiteside County SWAT Team was called in. The home was found to be empty.
