The Rochelle Township High School board heard a presentation last night dealing with goals and objectives for the current fiscal year involving students in the district.
Principal Chris Lewis said that they want to increase the numbers in test scores when it comes to math and reading. The graduation rate for the past senior class was at 94%.
Superintendent Jason Harper also stressed that they need to have students prepared when they graduate from RTHS if they plan to go to college or start their career.
They are asking students what their goals may be when they graduate from RTHS so they can be preprared in the future. Those may change if the student wants to go into another direction.
A local resident asked the board last night on when they will make a decision dealing with the consolidation issue with the Rochelle elementary school district.
Board president Tom Huddleston said they are still gathering information when it comes to the feeder school districts for RTHS along with accountant numbers and the impact on their curriculum.
The board plans to meet in special session next Monday evening at 5:30 for a budget workshop. Harper said it remains tough to finalize numbers due to the uncertain decisions from the state and federal levels.
School officials did approve the purchase of a Zamboni which will be used to clean floors at a cost of just over $14,800.
The board met in executive session to talk about personnel. No action was taken.
