Rochelle city council to meet tonight

An early retirement proposal for city employees, risk and health insurance coverage, and an increase in the cost for residential waste collection tops the agenda tonight for Rochelle officials.

The council meeting begins at 7.

City employees who have reached 60 years old and have accumulated 15 years of service would be eligible for the early separation incentive. The plan includes 100 percent health insurance premium coverage over a 2 year period. The employee's position may not be filled in the future.

The garbage collection fee would increase by $1.64 and totals 13 dollars a month.

The council also plans to approve an easement agreement for the Steward Road transmission line project at a cost of just under $14,850 and engineering work at the intersection of Illinois 251 and Steward road for $24,000. Traffic signals may be needed in the future at the intersection.

A back-up generator is also needed at the fire department at a cost of just under $46,300.

City officials plan to meet in executive session to set a price for the sale or lease of property.

Tonight's meeting is open to the public.
