A problem that could lead to vehicle fires has prompted General Motors to issue a recall on thousands of pickup trucks with dual fuel tanks.
The Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 3500 trucks were built between 2011 and 2015 and were equipped with the two fuel tanks. A low-fuel sensor on the front tank could malfunction causing the second tank to overfill the front tank and lead to a gas leak and possible fire.
The automaker says no fires or injuries have been reported and owners will be notified of the problem next month. Dealers will install a new fuel pump in the rear tank, inspect the front tank and update the vehicle's software.
