Hillcrest officials approved an agreement last night with Leaf River Communication in the use of their water tower for the next 5 years.
Under the first contract, LRC did not have a rental fee. They will now pay $50 per month to the village to have equipment on the water tower.
The village is looking at purchasing 6 radios at a cost of $600 for the maintenance department. Further information is needed such as the frequency before a final decision is made.
The board tabled the proposal to prohibit the burning of grass clippings and leaves in Hillcrest. Trustee Jason Fore wanted further response from the residents before a vote is taken on the issue.
An engineering agreement was approved with Ogle County for the seal coat work on the streets later this year. The estimated cost would be $20,000 as motor fuel tax money will be used for the project.
The 3 sets of speed bumps have been delivered. They will be used on the streets starting this spring.
Village officials met behind closed doors for around 20 minutes as the discussion included personnel and pending litigation. No action was taken by the board.
