Changes in the enterprise zone and the 100 block of South 6th Street in Oregon for the jail topped the discussion last night for the Ogle County board.
The enterprise zone includes the addition of both Amboy and Mt. Morris for future development.
Mt. Morris currently has a building that has been empty for several years along with land that is undeveloped.
An intergovernmental agreement was reached last month between Ogle County and the City of Oregon dealing with 6th Street and the construction of the new jail later this year. The county wants to close 6th Street between Washington and Jefferson Streets for a sally port that would connect the jail to the judicial center.
Last night, the county board approved the addition of the 100 block of 6th street to the highway system. Oregon officials also need to approve the proposal before it is sent to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Starting June 1st, the Recorders GIS fee will increase from $15 to $25. Reappointments last night included Greg Reckamp of Oregon to the Board of Health and Mark Hayes of Kings to the Zoning Board of Appeals.
An open house will be held on Wednesday, January 24th between 4:30 and 6:30 at the Emergency Operations Center in downtown Rochelle on Lincoln Highway. This will also be the future home of the Probation and Health Departments.
