A former Rochelle man has received a sentence of 30 years in prison after he pled guilty to felony charges in a sexual assault case.
38-year old Benjamin Meyer of Belvidere had originally been charged with 4 counts of the Class "X" felony offense of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. He pled guilty yesterday to 3 of the counts in Ogle County court.
Meyer was arrested last September by Ogle County Sheriff's Police. The sexual contact took place in the Rochelle area as Meyer knew the female victim.
Meyer was sentenced to 10 years for each count which totals 30 years. He must serve 85 percent of the sentence or 25 and a half years in the Department of Corrections.
Once his sentence is completed, Meyer will have 3 years to natural life of mandatory supervised release, at 1 time called probation, along with register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
