Rochelle school officials hear update report on security plan

The Rochelle elementary board heard an update report last night dealing with the district's security plans for each building.

Schools in Illinois and around the country are looking over their procedures following the shooting at a school in Florida last month that left 17 people dead.

Superintendent Todd Prusator said he talked with both the police and fire departments in Rochelle as they added a few small changes in the plan.

Administrators and staff for the next fiscal year were hired last night. Returning as principals will be Tony Doyle, Justin Adolph, Adam Zurko, Jennifer Derricks, and Rebecca Cox. Rick Dornink will continue as assistant principal at the Middle School.

The district will have a new Hub Program Manager. Amy Hayden has been named to the position. She replaces Jodee Craven who has been Hub Program Manager for the past 6 years.

The board approved the purchase of 2 new school buses with a net cost of just over $123,000.

The intergovernmental agreement with the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District was also approved. The park district will be able to use the school district facilities to run their programs in exchange of cutting the grass at the Middle School and Lincoln School.

The 2018-19 school calendar was also finalized last night. The first day of school for the students will be Monday, August 20th.
