A 17-year old boy from Oregon has died following injuries he received early Saturday morning when struck by a semi truck.
Weslee Rice died Saturday afternoon at a Rockford hospital.
Ogle County Sheriff's Police along with the Oregon Police Department responded to the incident a short time after 1:30am in the 26 hundred block of West Pines Road.
The semi truck struck the teen who was a pedestrian.
The driver of the semi, 21-year old Dakota Snyder of Mt. Morris, was taken to KSB Hospital in Dixon for treatment.
An autopsy on the teen's body is scheduled for today in Winnebago County.
Rice was a student at Oregon High School. Superintendent Tom Mahoney said there were counselors at the high school yesterday evening to talk with students about the incident. They will also be at the high school today.
