Fire Departments from Creston along with Rochelle, Steward, and Flagg Center were on the scene yesterday afternoon of an out of control field fire in the 25 hundred block of Chamberlain Road a short time before 1:30.
Around 25 acres of corn stubble was burning. The fire apparently started by a prescribed burn on adjoining land northeast of the field.
The flames got out of control due to the wind conditions and spread to the adjoining property.
There were no structures damaged as around 2,000 gallons of water and hand crews were used to put the fire out. No injuries were reported.
Firemen were on the scene for about 2 hours. 17 fire fighters responded to the filed.
