The Obama Foundation is preparing to go before Chicago's Plan Commission today to seek approval to build the planned Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park.
Former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle were in town yesterday ahead of today's presentation. Activists held a rally on the South Side to protest the potential impacts of the center, which is expected to cost around 500-million-dollars and is slated to open in 2021. They fear they will lose their homes to gentrification and rising property taxes.
