The approval of a new union contract for RMU employees along with a lease agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management topped the discussion yesterday evening by city officials in Rochelle.
The council approved a new contract with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers involving RMU. The agreement is retroactive to May 1st of this year and ends January 1st of 2022. Pay increases each year are at 2.25 percent.
City Manager Jeff Fiegenschuh said this is the most comprehensive union contract involving the workers. There was no major change from the former agreement
The council approved the new parking regulations in front of May, Central, and Tilton Schools along with allowing a "Corking Fee" in which a person can bring wine at a microbrewery.
A lease agreement was approved with Enterprise Fleet Management involving 45 city vehicles. No car would be older than 5 years once the full program is established.
Fiegenschuh hopes the city can reduce their fleet and get on a regular schedule in replacing the vehicles with this program.
The city expects to save over $200,000 within the first 10 years of the program.
The vote was 6-1 in favor of the proposal. Councilman Don Burke, who was sworn into office last night, voted against the plan.
T & R Rental, LLC has purchased the building at 410 Cherry Avenue for $10,000. The city also plans to purchase a new fire truck and 2 dump trucks for the street department.
Discussion items included an internal mapping system for the city, a cyber and physical security assessment system, and a website for new economic development.
