Cubs lose in 10 innings

Brandon Barnes singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth as the Rockies got by the Cubs 6-4 at Wrigley Field. Drew Stubbs added a run by scoring on a wild pitch as Colorado stopped a three-game slide. Charlie Blackmon and Michael McKenry each had three hits and doubled in a run while Charlie Culberson also knocked one in with a two-bagger. Rob Scahill earned the win in relief while Adam Ottavino notched his first save. Wesley Wright was charged with the loss for Chicago. Luis Valbuena hit a two-run homer and drove in three to complete a 3-for-5 effort. The Cubs have lost three of five.

Final game of the series is this afternoon at Wrigley Field.

Cubs utilityman Emilio Bonifacio was held out of the lineup last night amid trade speculation.  The team says it was best to keep him off the field.  The 29-year-old Bonifacio is a likely candidate to be dealt before today's 3:00 deadline with Seattle, San Francisco and Baltimore interested

The Cubs have acquired pitcher Felix Doubront [[ doo-BRONT ]] from the Boston Red Sox.  The left-hander will join the Cubs in exchange for a player to be named later.  The 26-year-old is 2-and-4 with a 6.07 ERA in 17 games this season, including ten starts.

The Cubs are receiving right-handed pitcher Jonathan Martinez from the Los Angeles Dodgers to complete a trade.  Martinez is the player to be named later in the deal that sent second baseman Darwin Barney to the Dodgers.  The 20-year-old Martinez had a 3.47 ERA in 19 starts in Single-A.
