Nick Castellanos hit a three-run homer to cap a six-run first inning and knocked in four to guide the Tigers to a 7-2 win over the White Sox at Comerica Park. Torii Hunter went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI for Detroit, which snapped a four-game slide. Max Scherzer picked up his 13th win after seven innings of one-run ball. Adam Dunn went deep for the second straight game for Chicago, which has lost two of three. Hector Noesi gave up six runs in six innings for the loss.

White Sox reliever Nate Jones will be on the shelf for some time. The team has announced Jones underwent Tommy John surgery on Tuesday. Jones had been attempting to return from early-season back surgery. He's now on a 12-to-15 month recovery program.
The White Sox have promoted 2014 top pick Carlos Rodon to Single-A Winston-Salem. The left-hander made his debut yesterday for the Dash, allowing two earned runs in one relief inning in which he struck out the side. Rodon could join the Sox later this season.
