Chicago baseball

A two-out error by Kris Bryant led to a three-run homer by Joey Votto in the ninth inning as the Reds rallied for a 7-4 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Jason Bourgeois also homered and Brandon Phillips had three hits for Cincinnati, which took two-of-three in the series. J.J. Hoover gave up a game-tying, two-run homer to Bryant in the eighth but got credit for the win. Aroldis Chapman nailed it down with his 27th save. Hector Rondon was charged with three unearned runs to take the loss for Chicago. Tommy La Stella and Anthony Rizzo each reached the seats for the Cubs in the setback.

The Cubs have the day off today. They host Arizona at Wrigley Field on Friday.

Tommy Milone tossed seven scoreless innings to lead the Twins to a 3-0 win over the White Sox.  Milone allowed only three hits while striking out seven and walking none to improve to 7-and-4.  Kevin Jepsen worked a perfect ninth for his 10th save.  Miguel Sano homered and Trevor Plouffe laced a two-run double for Minnesota, which looks to sweep the three-game set on Thursday.  Carlos Rodon gave up two runs in six-plus innings to fall to 6-and-6.  The Sox have dropped four of five.

Final game of the series is this afternoon. The Pre-Game Show begins at 11:35 on Newstalk 1060.
